In one of the most hostile nations for Christians, a quiet miracle has taken root.
Mahsa grew up in a devout Muslim family in Iran. For years, she faithfully followed every Islamic ritual, searching for peace but never finding it. So when her close friend Dina became a Christian, Mahsa dismissed her, thinking she had become an “infidel.”
Everything changed when tragedy struck.
Mahsa’s husband, Reza, suffered a catastrophic fall from the third floor of a construction site. The accident left him with serious injuries to his eyes, hands, legs, and back. Doctors offered no hope of recovery.
But Dina prayed for him.
Watching her friend's unwavering faith stirred something in Mahsa. Desperate, she lifted a quiet prayer of her own: “If Jesus is truly Lord, please heal my husband.”
Within a month, Reza defied all expectations. He walked again.
“God did a big miracle in my life as well as my husband’s,” Mahsa later told the Help The Persecuted team. “I thought Islam was the truth for many years, but I found truth and love in Christ. I was desperate and thought my husband would never walk again, but God healed him, gave us all a new life, and gave me new hope.”
Her newfound faith, however, came at a high cost.
Mahsa’s mother called daily, condemning her as an "infidel." Her brother labeled her "impure." Eventually, her entire family severed ties. She has not heard from them in years.
The pain of rejection was not the only burden the family had to bear.
Due to his injuries, Reza was unable to work full-time. Their son had to leave school to help support the family. They were left to live in a cramped, one-bedroom space shared with others. Still, Mahsa never stopped hosting weekly house church gatherings. She also served in two others.
When Help The Persecuted met Mahsa and Reza, their deepest need was clear. They needed a sustainable livelihood. A way to regain their dignity. A way for their son to return to school.
Through our Enduring Livelihood Ministry, Mahsa crafted a plan to start a small transportation business, driving schoolchildren during Iran’s split-shift school days. She could work mornings and evenings and continue her ministry during the day.
Thanks to the generosity of Help The Persecuted supporters, that plan became a reality!
When Mahsa received a car to begin her business, she was overwhelmed:
“I honestly don't know how to fully express what I feel. My husband and I have been going through very difficult circumstances. We prayed together constantly, asking God for a miracle, waiting patiently for His provision. Both of us deeply desired to start something of our own—a way to earn an income and step out of the challenging situation we've been trapped in for so long. This support has been nothing short of a miracle in our lives. It has given us the opportunity to begin again.”
Now, Mahsa is not just surviving. She is building a new future:
“Now, I am able to work and earn an income, and this will make a tremendous difference for our family. I want to sincerely thank you for the part you've played in this blessing. Your generosity and care have brought hope into our lives. May God bless you abundantly every day for what you've done for us.”
Because of this support:
- Mahsa is earning an income
- Reza sees God’s provision firsthand
- Their son can return to school
- And a quiet house church continues to meet in secret!
When her earthly family turned their backs, the Body of Christ reminded her that Jesus never will.
This is the impact of standing with the persecuted. This is what restored hope looks like.
Thank you for making stories like this—restored hope—possible!
