"To be steadfast in faith is to be steadfast in the Word of God, in fellowship, in prayer, and in Jesus. Because as Jesus promised that we will have difficulties, we will have tribulation...So we cannot overcome the world except through being firm in the word of God and in Christ."

What does it cost to follow Jesus in a country where converts are turned away from churches and worship must be kept to a whisper? Joshua Youssef sits down with Bassam, one of our Field Ministers in Morocco, who shares the night he came to faith in Jesus and how he now walks alongside believers who risk family, job, and freedom to remain steadfast in Christ.

State-Enforced Islam

In both Morocco and Algeria, Islam is the official state religion. Converts to Christianity face imprisonment, legal prosecution, and systematic persecution. Churches are closed, and believers are investigated for their faith.

Total Isolation

Christians meet in secret, knowing discovery brings job loss, family rejection, forced divorce, and violence. Families disown them. Spouses leave them. Custody is taken away. Following Jesus means losing everything.

Legal Consequences

In Morocco, "shaking the faith" of others carries up to three years in prison. In Algeria, authorities confiscate Bibles and systematically close churches. Converts are forced from homes and pressured to recant.
