Daisha grew up as a devout Muslim in North Africa. Her relatives were Islamic extremists and didn’t allow her to be friends with Christians at school, claiming they were unclean infidels.
But after she read a Bible left in her desk by a Christian student, Daisha began dreaming about a luminous person wrapped in a shroud. Three times she had this dream. Daisha asked the Christian student, who suggested that the person in her dreams was Jesus. Hungry for Truth, Daisha continued reading the Gospels in search of answers.
When Daisha read about Lazarus’s resurrection from the dead, one question haunted her: “How can someone who is a prophet raise someone from the dead?” She trusted in Christ—and gave her life to Him.
Daisha started wearing a cross necklace—a bold decision that her neighbors noticed. They informed her mother’s relatives, who immediately came to her house and questioned her. At first she denied their claims, but she later told them the truth and defended her Christian faith. Her relatives shouted at her that Christians are unclean infidels who will go to hell.
Her relatives beat her and forced her from home. They locked her alone in a dark room for an entire month. They tortured her with electric shocks.
Then they called a sheikh to “heal” her from Christian demons and magic. The sheikh insulted her, beat her, then used genital torture on her. The sheikh left her unconscious and Daisha was later rushed to the hospital.
The doctors declared Daisha dead.
“During that time, I felt Jesus Christ holding my hand and showing me my place in heaven with Him,” Daisha says.
After three hours, she rose from the table, resurrected just like Lazarus.
“Christ is the one who raised me up as He did with Lazarus. At that moment, my belief that Christ raises the dead was confirmed.”
Before Daisha had fully recovered from her injuries, she fled her home. She left behind her life and everything she knew. She was baptized and then continued moving from place to place, relying on the kindness of others to pay her expenses.
Help The Persecuted met Daisha through a local church. By God’s grace and in His perfect timing, we were able to support and empower Daisha by renting her an apartment and covering her living expenses as she settled into her new community and found a job.
