In places hostile to the Gospel across the Muslim world, persecution of Christians grows. God’s beloved children are demeaned, abused, unable to earn a living, and even murdered for their faith. When God commands us to rescue our suffering brothers and sisters, He is making our “marching orders” clear. There is persecution—and we are expected to do something about it.
This is why Help The Persecuted exists. To share in the burden our brothers and sisters bear. To encourage and bolster the faith of believers, while taking every opportunity to share the Gospel with the lost. To see the Church flourish in hostile places. And you stand with us to make it happen.
We could not have imagined how God would use us last year to impact and save lives. But, with your help, we have been able to answer His call and strive to obediently move forward no matter the cost.
Our Fiscal Year 2022 Annual Report tells the stories of just a few of the people whose lives we were able to Rescue, Restore, and Rebuild. They hail from countries all over the Muslim world, many of them living in places where persecution is relentless and extreme.
What Help The Persecuted Did in 2022
This past year, we intervened in the midst of the unexpected crisis in Afghanistan, evacuating hundreds. We fed thousands suffering from food insecurity in places like Lebanon. Men, women, and children persecuted for their Christian faith were secretly sheltered in our 18 Safe Houses throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Through our programs and outreach efforts, more than 47,000 people were supported across 14 countries. Here’s what a few of them have to say:
“Thank you so much. What you’re doing for us—it’s a big thing for us. We are in a good place right now, and everything is because of you. Really, thanks to all of you.” —Farida, an Afghanistan evacuee
“I was praying this morning for a miracle. I knew that God would listen, but I had no idea how! Then you called me telling me that you would help me. I finally will be able to afford my medical care! Praise the Lord.” —Sefa, a Lightning Funds grant recipient
“It may sound so simple, but you have saved our entire family. This small investment gave us hope in this country.” —Muhdati, an Enduring Livelihood grant recipient
“Thank you. If it wasn’t for you, we would starve.” —Hot meal recipient, Lebanon Crisis Response Program
We are left in awe that we had the opportunity to come alongside God’s beloved children practically and spiritually. We have tried to be flexible and obedient to God’s leading, and we rejoice at how He has blessed our efforts.
Thank you for standing with us, supporting us through prayer, giving, and sharing our content on social media.
As you view our Annual Report, we hope these stories remind you of the kind of God that we serve—a God that provides miraculous intervention in the most unexpected ways, a God that moves on behalf of his people, and a God that loves each of us more than we could imagine. It is our privilege to serve Him by caring for His children as He directs us.
May God continue to find us fruitful!
